Larry strongly believes our public schools deserve better funding from the state to support our needs and ability to provide the best resources available in the classroom.

RESPECTING TEACHER AND STAFF

Larry is committed to making our teacher and school staff our most valued asset. He’s supported pay raises for teachers and support staff to retain talent, initiated the Teacher of the Year Luncheon, and the Going the Extra Mile Award.

QUALITY EDUCATION FOR STUDENTS

Larry has consistently supported our students to receive the highest quality education, resulting in a 97% graduation rate. He’s advocated for the protecting programs from being cut, expand to offer over 350 career and technical training courses, and fought for a balanced number of days for school semester for more efficiency.

KEEPING OUR SCHOOLS SAFE

As Trustee, Larry has put GISD on the forefront of school safety. Hes listened to leading experts in school safety to upgrade campuses and supported additional campus officers.

LOW TAXES WITH HIGH EFFICIENCY

As a tax attorney, Larry has kept the GISD tax rate one of the lowest in the county. He successfully implemented televising Board meetings and published Board procedures online. Larry has visited every GISD campus, has a 99% meeting attendance record, and maintains an open-door policy.

RECOGNIZED EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION

Under Larry’s leadership, Garland ISD has been recognized by the Dallas Morning News for progress and advancement in student achievement levels. The 2023 H-E-B Excellenct in Education Awards ranked GISD as one of the Top 5 Outstanding School Districts in Texas.
